LWIA Meeting Minutes

June 24, 2023
The meeting was held via Zoom.  Treasurers report was given, finances stable, about a third of the members have paid 2023 dues.  Water quality reports for 2022 shows relative stability in the lake.  Lake Host program has coverage for Saturday & Sunday, seeks both volunteers for additional hours and donations.  The loons had two chicks this year.  LWIA officers Bill Kobertz and Jay Buckley are offering to continue to serve for an additional term.  The August meeting will be moved from the 12th to the 19th and be held at 9:30 at the Anchorage. A goup will be working on sorting LWIA historical records, digitizing many.  Richard Dunn has returned, report to the New Hampton police if sighted.  A handful of new business items were presented, for more details on all items please see the draft minutes here.

 

August 6, 2022
First in person meeting since COVID, held at the Anchorage (thank you).  Treasurer’s report given, finances stable.  Water Quality report slightly better than prior period, better than state medians.  Lake Host program is looking for donations and a volunteer to assist with timekeeping for next year.  The loons produced two chicks but one was lost to unknown causes.  There may be changes to the railroad on the west side of the lake, we’ll have to see what develops.  Nora Foster was voted in as Vice President and Linda Barnes was voted in as Secretary.  Nora Foster also completed the new contact book and many were distributed at the meeting.

Virtual meeting.  Treasurers report given and it was agreed to give $300 to NH Lakes and $20 to the Loon Preservation Committee.  Water Quality report from last August was a bit disappointing, the numbers are logged on the web site.  The Lake Host Program has funding for 3 days a week this year (Fri-Sun), looking for additional funding.  The Septic Commitee noted four homes upgraded their septic systems this year.  The loons nested early, two chicks.

Our second virtual meeting of the year.   The Secretary and Treasurer reports were given and approved.  Bill Kobertz was voted in as President and Jay Buckley and Mark Heminway were voted in as Treasurer and Communications respectively.   Updates were presented by Water Quality, Septic Committee and the Lake Host program.  Proposals for next year’s meetings were tentatively set for June 25 and August 6, 2022.

Our second virtual meeting of the year, with great turnout.   The Secretary and Treasurer reports were given and approved.  Trish Epstein was voted in as Secretary and Mark Heminway as Communications Manager.  Charlie Goodwin presented the Water Quality Committee update and Catherine Greenleaf presented the Septic Committee report.  Proposals for next years meeting were tentatively set for June 26th and August 7th.

Secretary & Treasurer’s reports given and approved. Nominations for Secretary and Communications Manager are being accepted. Contact book will be updated this year. Nora Foster stepped down as Lake Host Coordinate – Association looking for a replacement. Loon egg has yet to hatch. Due to COVID-19, water testing will be pushed out. Septic survey will be emailed early July.

Katie Hedberg voted in as President; updates provided on water quality, beavers and loons. New septic system committee to develop owner survey to send in 2020. Lake Host program seeking a manager for 2020 as Nora Foster will no longer be managing.

June 22, 2019
Secretary & Treasurer’s reports given; Dave Reilly’s term as President is ending and he will not seek another term – nominations for President are being solicited; Jay Buckley will continue as Treasurer; 2020 meeting dates set for June 20 and Aug 8; volunteers needed for Lake Host program; updates provided on water quality, beavers, water level, and wildlife.

August 11, 2018
A By-laws change to increase yearly association dues to $30 was approved unanimously. Thanks were given to Ned Dwyer and Sara Jayne Steen for their commitment to the LWIA and for their service on the Executive Board. Officer elections were held and Jason St. Gelais and Wendy Traynor were elected to the positions of Vice President and Secretary, respectively.

A proposal to increase LWIA dues to $30 was proposed and approved to be voted on at the August meeting. The Annual Meeting and Pot Luck will be on August 11 (rain date August 12). The lake host program is up and running thanks to Nora Foster. Ray Paquette will be re-blazing the Bald Ledge Trail in early July. Please contact him if you would like to help.

By-Laws changes were reviewed and approved. Beaver issue was discussed and a working group organized. Nominating Committee is now a standing committee and looking for additional volunteers. 2018 meeting dates set: June 23 & Aug 11 (rain date Aug 12).

Bylaw changes reviewed and approved. Updates on the Lake Host Program, water quality tests, loon nesting raft and beaver dam activity. Deb Corr of the Waukewan and Winona Watershed Protective Association gave an update and invitation to a presentation.

Fireworks use position approved, new officers elected, updates on Lake Host program and water quality tests, 2017 meeting dates set.
