Since the last NHDOT public meeting on June 8, 2016, in Center Harbor, members of the Snake River/Mosquito Bridge Preservation Committee have worked closely and diligently throughout the summer with town officials, State Representative Valerie Fraser and NHDOT to develop a repair plan for Mosquito Bridge that is in keeping with our residents’ wishes. The rain held off long enough for this year’s Canoe & Kayak Race, but the weather resulted in a smaller turnout than years past. Participants had fun racing each other around the large pink floating flamingo (our official race buoy compliments of Wally & Yvonne Kielb of Boulder Island) and back to the finish line (Paul & Trisha Epstein’s dock at 182 West Shore Road).
The Waukewan and Winona Watershed Protective Association will be presenting “The Climate Change Conundrum,” a free seminar with speaker Dr. Lindsay Rustad, Research Ecologist with the US Forest Service, Northern Research Station, Durham, NH. The LWIA’s Summer Social and Potluck lunch will be held on Saturday, August 13, at noon. The Anchorage Lodge has once again graciously offered their location for the event, which will allow us to host the event rain or shine.
