The slalom ski course, originally approved by the NH Department of Safety last August, was approved for the 2013 season. It is located on an 850′ stretch of water near The Anchorage. The NH House of Representatives passed Senate Bill 89 yesterday by a vote of 225-142 – a convincing margin. SB 89 will protect our state’s loon population by banning the sale and freshwater use of toxic lead fishing sinkers and jigs weighing one ounce or less–still the largest known cause of New Hampshire adult loon mortality.

Last year, March 23rd was the official ice out day for Lake Winona. This year, however, the ice is still fully in place. Not just for Winona. Most area lakes still have a firm layer of ice.
