Volunteers Needed for Lake Winona Lake Host Program
Our Lake Host Program will kick off this year on June 6 and run through August 23. We are in need of many volunteers to man the boat launch on Saturdays and Sundays. If you are available to volunteer, please go to our Lake Host scheduling calendar to select the dates and times you can assist. Lake Host Training Days
Volunteer Lake Hosts are encouraged to attend a sponsored training class. The following training dates have been set: SATURDAY, May 16, 9:00 – 12:00 noon, NH DES, 29 Hazen Drive, Concord, NH. Rising Concern Over Milfoil Prompts Lake to Pay for a Lake Host Program
The NH DES has identified 14 exotic aquatic plants that are prohibited in New Hampshire due to their abilities to choke surface waters, harm native vegetation and wildlife, impact recreation, and lower property values. Thankfully, Lake Winona has not been infiltrated by an exotic species. Big Turnout for 2014 Kayak & Canoe Race
The Kayak & Canoe Race, held on August 16, was a huge success and a showdown between the Islanders and the Anchorage. Racers met at Ted & Donna Saia’s dock on West Shore Rd. 2014 Summer Social & Potluck to be Held August 16
The LWIA’s Summer Social and Potluck lunch will be held on Saturday, August 16, at noon. The Anchorage Lodge has graciously offered their location for the event, which will allow us to host the event rain or shine. We’ll eat at 12:15, then review a few business matters at 1:30 pm. This free event is open to Lake Winona residents & their families only Fishing Derby Time: 9 am-3 pm (Final weigh in at 3:00 pm) Where: Lake Winona. Weigh in and awards at Lorna Fenenbock’s beach – 31 Anchorage Road – Come by car or boat! Awards: Ribbons for all participants.
