The Lakes Region Conservation Trust (LRCT) announced plans to complete the purchase of the Fogg Hill Conservation Area Expansion (Bascom property) at the end of this month! This project will add 43 acres to the Conservation Area including 1,250 feet of shoreline on Bear Pond and a perfect trailhead parking area for hikers along Piper Hill Road. This beautiful Conservation Area is part of a large block of nearly 1,000 acres that is the largest roadless area in Center Harbor and includes important plant and wildlife communities, critical habitat, and wetlands and aquifers that protect the quality of surface and ground waters in the Waukewan Watershed. Once the project is complete LRCT will work with volunteers and community groups to create a trail system to be enjoyed by all.
